project outline:

Parsons Paris Fashion Design and Strategic Design and Management junior students collaborated with the historical men’s tailoring brand Cerruti 1881 and textile brand Woolmark Company to create a gender-fluid capsule collection. We were put into teams of three designers and one management student, and I was one of the designers.

as part of the project, we were given the following guidelines: use only the materials given to us by woolmark company and cerruti, materiality is welcomed but do not completely manipulate the color navy from the fabric (i.e. bleach or dye yardage), stay on brand but stay true to your concept.

team perform’s concept

Two films we focused on (Both released in 1991): VI Warshawski + Silence of The Lambs. Inspired by Cerruti’s costume design, the mix of volumes in 90’s wear, and how they add to the conversation of gender through fashion silhouettes. This brought us to thinking about gender as performanceThese became our two main focuses that we’ve kept in mind throughout the evolution of this project.
